Advice on budget planners/trackers for iPhone?

Betty777 · 30/12/2018 22:47

I'm looking for a good/simple budget tracker to help start the new year with organised finances - any advice from those who use?

I've been doing some research and it's making me more confused - do I want YNAB, Money Dashboard or something else? I don't particularly want to give all my bank details and passwords due to security concerns,

Do I need to pay for YNAB? I can prob afford to if it's worth it.

Mainly I use one account but want to a) manage my credit card debt, b) look at some stats to see my spending patterns and c) make some saving plans
Mostly will be using on phone but laptop too.
Can anyone recommend their favourite? TIA

;-)
Nobody else had said anything useful and I could not resist
and an android phone is up to £800 cheaper than an iphone

Gizlotsmum · 01/01/2019 20:27

Could you not do all of that with excel spreadsheets?

LindaLyndell · 01/01/2019 20:29

I use"Fudget" OP - pretty basic, but helps me!

I use YNAB on my iPhone and it's great. I can keep track of what I spend, where I spend it and what I'm saving for. I pay for it but it's definitely worth it. I spend much, much less on random crap now everything is accounted for. It's stopped me binge spending when I get paid and then being skint for the next two weeks!

Betty777 · 01/01/2019 22:12

TAlkinPeace - fair enough, though my iPhone isn't the latest model and I already have it, so it's free :-)

Lynda - I'll look into Fudget, thanks

And good to see a vote for YNAB. I'll take another look

I LOVE YNAB! It's great! You do have to pay, though.

ThatIsNachoCheese · 02/01/2019 01:47

I love ynab too, I've paid for it after a months free trial but Christmas was so much easier, I have high hopes for my next year using it.

ok have downloaded the YNAB app. Somehow need to get around to filling in all the info this week.

Thanks all!

Yep YNAB here too and I'm an accountant and total personal finance nerd. The desktop is good to get set up and then the phone app is brilliant for updating

NoSquirrels · 02/01/2019 15:11

Yes, set up YNAB on the desktop, and then use the app. Much easier that way.

Watch all the demos and online help stuff to get the most out of it. It is easy to understand once you are into it, but it does require a mindset adjustment and things like credit card debt management can seem tricky at first.

It really is great, though, as it forces you to prioritise and see when you clearly have no cash for something even if you could "technically" afford it as you have to rob from other categories.

FreckledLeopard · 02/01/2019 15:14

I use YNAB too - I have an oldish version that I paid for about 3 years ago. I have the main budget on the laptop and then use the app to track spending. It's excellent!
