How can I be more financially organised

I get a huge payrise in January and it's going to leave me about £650 per month better off (after tax)

I'm terrible for living beyond my means and getting into debt.

I want to be able to use this extra income from the start in the way I mean to go on otherwise I will end up spending it all each month as I currently do SadBlush

I will have £1500 spare each month after all bills including food and petrol etc.

How much should I save? Should I use separate accounts for things? I really could do with tips!

@superE I agree that YNAB can seem confusing to begin with, but really, if you follow it to the letter, it isn't at all - they just say you can't make a plan for money you don't have yet, you can only use what you currently have available. Once you've got your head round that bit, it falls into place.

So instead of saying I earn £X per month and my bills = £Y per month so I should have £X-Y left over to spend THIS MONTH, it makes you really sit down and say I have £X in my bank account NOW, and I need to spend £Y on food, and £Z on that credit card bill that's due on 15th, before I get paid again on 30th.

You can't use money you don't have yet. So it forces you to take a (usually uncomfortable!) overview of your real priorities.

They do have brilliant tutorials and the forum is really helpful too if you need to ask a question.
