So, had a new floor put down in the kitchen to replace the old lino. Originally I chose a slate tile until I found out you would have to seal it at least once a year. I then found a slate-effect ceramic tile and checked with the shop that it did not need resealing. They said no.
The end result is that it looks crapola. It never looks clean, almost as if the grout is in the tiles. When you spill water on the floor, it doesn't form a bead but sinks in leaving a water mark. On the phone, the bloke insisted did not need sealing. He came out and after some investigation, it turns out that another customer with same tiles had same problem. The floor shop have just delivered a bottle of sealant.
My questions are:
- Should I insist that they apply the sealant as they seem to be expecting me to do it?
- Since it now seems that the tiles will need regularly resealing, should I complain and how?
It has been an ongoing saga so all advice gratefully received.
