Hi guys, I'm just after some advice as google seems to be drawing a blank.

Basically I've made a boo boo. I get paid on Monday and just like everybody else I've been penny pinching on the run up to Christmas. Presents where all bought, The cupboards are all stocked up and I had enough gas and electricity to last until Monday. Or so I thought. This morning whilst getting ready for work I popped the boiler on for what I thought was going to be 15 minutes while I got ready for work. Me being the idiot that I am, forgot to turn it off and it ended up being on for 12 hours, warning up a completely empty house. My little lad is due down tomorrow and I'm bricking it at the thought of him not being warm. My question is, can you ring British Gas and explain the situation to them for them to give you some kind of temporary credit until you next top up??. I've never been in this situation before so I'm absolutely clueless.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙂

Know idea about the energy company but do you have something like fleece blankets/dressing gowns/duvet? Depending on his age snuggle up to watch a film with hot chocolate and snacks. Then put the blanket/dressing gown on his bed.

If he has a beanie hat he could wear that in bed too. Do not let him sleep with a scarf though, very high risk of strangulation while he’s asleep.

Everything else is okay, hat, socks, gloves, jumper and joggers, extra layers on bed, just not a scarf.

I have slept in my dressing gown when the heating packed up and often wear it over my clothes in the evenings.

Have you checked all pockets, settee cushions etc for coins?

Just seen another thread on the same subject. Advice there says call the company and some will give you a credit that gets repaid with future payments.

Look up your provider and see if they’ll do that.

I think you can also ask at food banks for some help with heating credit.
