I work for Insurance company, and rates are just so expensive at the moment for everything.

hi zoeuk1 you may be missing insurance on protecting your income/ partners income. if you have done all these insurances yourself it may be worth finding a local IFA, either google or lookup on www.unbiased.co.uk, i am an IFA and whenever i come across someone who has done it all themselves you'd be shocked at the amount i can save them. You shouldn't have to pay a fee as the first meeting is free and if they can save you money they will receive a commission on the new products you will have taken out. either way there is no cost to you to find out and a good IFA will save you a fortune over the years

good hunting

i have mortgage payment protection which covers us for redundancy/sickness/unemployment etc. we pay about a tenner a month for that and it covers our mortgage repayments.

Zoe -re your mortgage payment protection insurance, its not PPI is it? If you google PPI and Do I need it you'll get a zillion articles on why you dont.

Quattrocento · 19/06/2007 15:39

My IFA said that income protection policies were generally bad. Is it worth looking at this again, swanny?

We don't have PPI or pet cover. We do have PHI which pays out a monthly sum if dh was ill for more than 6 months (during which time he would be on full pay anyway) and unable to do his current job (note that some insurances only pay out if unable to do any job - an important distinction!). We also both have critical illness cover. Agree with swanseadaddy - it is always worth checking rates every couple of years.
