Credit rating ruined- advice

My credit rating is is very low- in the low end of 'poor' because I received a CCJ and I'm wondering if something has gone wrong.

History- perfect credit rating, in the top end. Never had any debt that wasn't regularly paid, never missed a payment or a bill. Credit cards, car payments all paid on time and are now completely paid off. The only debt I currently have is 0% credit for my sofa.
Two years ago I found out I had received a ccj from a parking ticket I didn't know I had. Not from the council but a private company with a pay by phone service.
They were sending correspondence to an old address.
Long story short- I was in the right about the parking ticket, managed to go to court and get the ccj removed and went back to court again and won my case against the parking company. It was a lengthily process and cost me a few hundred pounds to clear up. The court said it takes 1 month to remove.

It's been 5 months since the ccj removal and my credit rating hasn't changed at all.
In that time I've been using my credit card each month and clearing it etc to help.

I didn't expect my credit to go straight back up to where it was after the removal but I expected a decent improvement.

I'm so stressed out about this as it's been going on for so long. I went from someone who wouldn't think twice before applying for credit to someone who is scared to even apply.
Thankfully I haven't needed any credit for anything but in the near future I want a mortgage.
Is it usual for credit to be completely ruined even if the ccj is removed and what else can I do to help my situation?

That doesn’t sound right - has the ccj definitely been removed from your file? If there’s still a record of it, I would contact the court and ask how to get it expunged.

TyrionsNextWife · 15/10/2018 19:05

Sorry, should have clarified that I meant has it definitely been fully removed as opposed to being marked as queried or anything like that.

Firstly get a copy of your credit report and check if the CCJ is still on there. If it hasn’t been updated to show the removal then you can contact the credit rating(s) agency/agencies and ask them to correct your file. Whilst this is pending they should be able to add a note. I know yours isn’t a mistake as such but this might help:

I'd seek advice of a mortgage broker. They can have really good advice about boosting your credit rating and different mortgage companies use different credit score checkers. You may need to actually contact the credit score company to get your rating boosted. Hope that makes sense!

Thank you, how would I find that out?
I have a few credit score accounts, clear score and noodle.

As Josella said too. You may need to contact all the credit rating agencies you're registered with to get them to update your score to reflect that the CCJ has been removed. The agencies should have contact pages on their websites.

Thank you.
I've ended up paying £14.99 for my full report and the ccj is indeed still there.

I've contacted Experian and will contact the court too.

Good luck, hope you get it sorted soon!

Thank you,
I really can't believe all this has happened over a £1 parking ticket that I did in fact pay!

I thought it was all over after the the court ruled in my favour but looks like I still have a lot of letters to write and waiting time.

Is your car registered to an old address and have you updated it with the DVLA?

NotDavidTennant · 16/10/2018 15:15

For future reference the credit agencies are obliged by law to give you a copy of your credit report for £2. They don't advertise this, as they want to sell you their premium access services, so you need to search on the credit agency site for how to order your "statutory credit report".

@BarbaraofSevillle

Yes it has been and had been at the time of the ticket- I paid for the ticket, had the bank statement and phone record to prove it. All the fault was with the company.
From my point of view they're the most ridiculous rogue company with so many problems. In a year they didn't answer the phone once, their cameras were not running at the correct time, they didn't show up to any of the court dates but yet they managed to do this to me.
