What to do with inheritance?

When on Housing Benefit, late 50s, private renting.
I'm just worried that as the money appears the housing benefit stops, the inheritance then is used to top up my income and dwindles away to nothing.
Is there anything I can use it for to stop this happening?

Whew! have just renewed my old shared ownership application with updated details. The inheritance is of course not with me yet but will be within a few short weeks.Thank you so much mostdays Fingers crossed.
Training was something that had crossed my mind Snog (great name btw) I am so nervous and lacking in any kind of confidence at my age and having tried and tried to get better paid jobs in the past few years. Feel like an old gimmer.

If you haven't yet inherited, you could consider a deed of variation, such as that used by the Milibands. Your portion could then go directly to your children. Whether or not this would be considered a deprivation of assets I am not sure, because everyone due to inherit has to agree so perhaps you could argue it wasn't your decision.

Premium bonds, keep it secure and gift the rest in premium bonds for your children
