I've heard people say 'bad' cos it looks like, to potential creditors, that you need one therefore aren't managing your finances v well. OR 'good' as it looks like you're responsible person....

I'm really curious to see how I rate even though I know I've never been over a few days late for a payment every now and then in the last 7 yrs or so, but when I was a student, ermm.....bad, bad girl....

Basically, I wanna know what they've got on me..We're in the process of getting a mortgage and I'm soooo scared they'll say no, you must live in a rented hovel until you die...

Do it, do it, do it! I discovered i had a bad rating because of a debt to a catalogue i had never ordered from as a result of ID fraud. I explained to the catalogue, sent proof it couldn't be me and had the note dropped.

PinkTulips · 13/06/2007 12:47

how do you do it?

have a suspicion i have a bad one but not really sure why!

Mum07 · 13/06/2007 12:51

It's a few years ago now but i seem to remember sending a cheque (rememeber those?!) for £2 to Experian. If you Google Experian there's loads of links.

charliecat · 13/06/2007 12:52

you can get a free one...hold on one mo...

charliecat · 13/06/2007 12:55

eeek, found one that does irish ones so will know in 3-5 days why i'm shunned by loads of credit agencies!

lizziemun · 13/06/2007 14:23

On my local radio station, they have a consumer show (like watchdag) and they were talking to someone from the local CAB about your credit rating.

They were saying that everyone should get a credit check done at least once a year, to see what condition of rating.

Lolly68 · 13/06/2007 14:31

You can get them on-line. Got to Experian or Equifax websites.

WideWebWitch · 13/06/2007 14:33

No, if you get your own it does NOT leave a 'footprint' - I got mine recently from checkmyfile.com they were v good. Or if you haven't done so already, go to Experian and get their free trial. I did it BUT you have to complete dd details and then REMEMBER to cancel when trial period is up.

Lizzer · 13/06/2007 15:10

Thanks guys, that's the word I couldn't remember www, 'footprint'

I think I'll do it then....thanks for link charliecat

I'm not sure I'd give my personal links to a company I've never heard of before

Lizzer · 13/06/2007 17:25

No I haven't heard of them either Twiglett. Will stick with experian or equifax and try and duck out before they start charging as www sugests...
