I need help

I'm searching and searching for jobs but nowhere is hiring or if they are they aren't getting back to me.
I'm due to move house soon and I need to have at least £700 in a matter of weeks (I wasn't aware of how soon the move would be when I agreed to it). Not moving isn't an option either.
This isn't a begging post but I was wondering if anyone knows of how I could raise this money? I've even thought of becoming a sugar baby I'm so desperate.
I can't take out a loan either because somehow my phone contract has messed up my credit score (no one will explain how to me) and also because of not earning money I can't even say I can pay things back.
I've applied for universal credit but my appointment isn't for a while and I wouldn't even get enough then.
Please if somehow can give me some tips or point me in the right direction that would be amazing.
Please if anyone can help that would be great.

OP,

Putting yourself at risk by being making yourself available on a site is dangerous.

What's the deal with your UC appointment? Its usually fairly quick for a first interview. You're able to apply for an advance at this first appointment.

Safe options are to look fr some work where you can save rhe money you need.

What's the money for? Deposit/rent?

brokenanddesperate · 02/10/2018 15:01

I don't actually want to go into that kind of stuff, I only thought about it because I'm so desperate.
I tried signing up for uc online and they couldn't verify my identity because of my credit score (I don't understand it but that's what it said) and so I had to make the appointment.
I've tried so hard finding a job. I'm currently begging for an old job back but even then I won't have enough money in time.
I'm considering going to the shop and spending the last of my money on some scratch cards I'm so desperate.

With your UC, you'll be asked to provide evidence of your identity at the first appointment. You'll need photographic ID, address ID. Take your bank card, a bank statement and a council tax bill. As much as you can gather. Once you get your appointment and the work coach has confirmed your ID, you'll be asked if you require an advance.

It may seem daunting, but it's not that bad. In the meantime, it might be time to look at your finances and see what or where you can manage your money better.

You haven't said what or why you need this money for?

I wouldn't recommend scratchcards either, leaving yourself short in the hope of winning something is risky.

It's for first months rent and bills.
Thank you for your help

OK OP, deep breath. I'm sure this is do-able. Don't buy scratch cards or sell your body!

First thing first, workwise are you signed up to every temp agency in the area as well as applying for jobs that are advertised/permanent jobs? Have you made it clear that you are prepared to travel and work unsociable hours (nights etc) - assuming you are of course. A couple of weeks temping even at NMW should get you most of the way there - although what are you living on in the meantime if you've no income?

Any family, friends or acquaintances who may have some odd jobs that need doing (thinking gardening, ironing, babysitting, cleaning) you could do to earn some cash? I know it's not nice to have to ask but needs must. Maybe advertise on taskrabbit or similar if you are able to do that kind of work, or put a card up in local shop?

Any outgoings you can (temporarily) cut back to save some money? Sorry if this is obvious and you are already back to bare bones.

Do you have your UC appointment now? As Mc says, you can ask them there about an advance and is the money you need is for a housing deposit there may be a loan scheme in relation to this too?

If you have a small amount of capital and some time match betting can be a good way to raise a small amount of money (it is not real betting and you mustn't do it if you've ever had any gambling issues) - there is a thread on here explaining how it works...

Or other ways of quickly raising some cash - do you have anything you can sell or pawn? Jewellery, car, clothes, electronics? I know you said a loan is not possible due to poor credit but what about a credit card or overdraft (neither ideal as they'll charge interest but worth checking with your bank none the less as a short term solution)? Any family who would loan you the money on the understanding you can pay back once you get your UC backpay through?

Hope you sort it!

Are you in a city with credit unions? Some of them will loan you deposit money even if you don't have savings with them.

Alternatively - does your council operate a bond scheme? Not every landlord accepts them, but tbh, usually anyone who will accept people on benefits will.

It's a shit situation, op Flowers

Hi all,
We're just popping on with our usual caveat that right now we can't see any evidence to indicate that the OP isn't above board - if we did, we'd remove the thread straight away.

But the truth is that, sadly, we at MNHQ can't know with 100% certainty that any poster is genuine, no matter who they are or how long they have been here. As frustrating as it is, we're not able to vouch for anyone here.

So we always ask everyone to remember that not everyone on the internet is who they say they are - and remind folk not to give more to another poster, either financially (in cash or gifts) or emotionally (in time or care and support) than they'd be prepared to lose if things went wrong.
