Nationwide Mortgage offer

BengalLioness · 28/09/2018 15:59

We received a text message on 19th September that they've issued us a mortgage offer. Will the paperwork be sent through to us following this text? How long does it normally take. We used a Mortgage broker but he's on holiday at the moment !

Any info would be useful

Thanks!

Hi, we recently got a MO notification from another lender via email, and the actual paperwork arrived 1 week later (and an E-copy went straight to the broker). If your broker is away try contacting your solicitor to see if they've had their paper version yet. Congratulations!

Hmmm well it's been over two weeks and we haven't received anything. Called my mortgage broker today and he said he will give them a call first thing Monday. I did tweet them as well and they said it wouldn't usually take that long and asked us to get them a call on Monday as well.

Will see what happens then- I'm just worried they've changed their mind or something! Getting a lil anxious!

Hmm that is quite slow! On the other hand I once had a lender take so long our sellers got tired of waiting and almost pulled out - but it was just a busy caseload and we completed no problems. Hope your broker sorted things yesterday!

We have received the offer now , but they haven't sent it to our solicitor ! scanner them a copy and solicitor they will chase up. Still waiting for Local Authority search report to come back too. It's been about 3 weeks for that one..

Gosh that does seem slow. Keep on your solicitors, ring every day until they have their copy, and it wouldn't hurt for you to contact the lender directly too and apply some serious pressure. You're the most invested in this and have been very patient, so be a pest!

BengalLioness · 29/10/2018 21:08

@shirleyschmidt I'm just unsure how much to pester them I guess. They generally give me weekly updates on what's happening. They emailed last week to say they're still waiting for those two bits. I will drop them an email tomorrow .

It is hard to judge how long is reasonable to wait, especially with searches as they're a bit at the mercy of the land registry. But for a mortgage offer issued at the end of September, everyone should have had their copy by now. I can't think what on earth would justify such a lag, when you and your FA both have yours, except someone just not getting a move on.
I would contact the lender yourself and ask why it's being delayed, and a deadline for when the solicitor will receive it. Totally understand you don't want to nag but you're entitled to know what's going on at this point, and from experience you can get a lot moving yourself just by being a bit pushy. Remember these people have several cases on the go at once and nobody is as invested in yours as you are, so you might need to make things happen! Good luck!!

@shirleyschmidt the solicitor has literally 0 control over when they will receive the mortgage offer, what good is chasing them going to do? OP, your broker should chase the lender to send the solicitor's copy to them, it's not your solicitor's fault and it sounds like they're keeping you updated with everything.

The Land Registry also have nothing to do with searches, and those won't be in the solicitor's control either.

(Conveyancing solicitor).

shirleyschmidt · 01/11/2018 11:23

@crockofcrackers to clarify, I'm not suggesting anything is the 'fault' of the solicitor, or that they are causing any of the delays. My most recent post is aimed at the lender, and it is the lender I would get onto in OP's shoes. I nearly wouldn't bother with the FA - OP is the one who most wants it moving on, and has nothing to lose by chasing it herself. I suppose given the length of the wait I don't see why the solicitor wouldn't be prepared to put in a call for their own copy to help out OP - mine did when it happened to us and within a day and a half they got it.

BengalLioness · 04/11/2018 22:34

@shirleyschmidt

I contacted my mortgage broker about it , who got told all copies were sent at the same time.

I emailed my solicitor to say that I will contact the lender directly myself to chase.

The following day the solicitor said the paperwork had arrived and we have been sent the contracts (?) to sign now.

Really not sure what happened here. Either the lender sent it out late or solicitor misplaced it ?? Either way it's been received now !

All good.

Oh brilliant! So random but all's well that ends well - hope it's smooth sailing from here! :)
