A year yesterday someone crashed into DHs car and the insurance STILL haven't sorted it - what can we do?

We have had excuse after excuse, solicitors muddling the registration number so just forgetting about the claim, names spelt wrong (and just wrong full stop) addresses wrong - I found out the proper reg. number with one simple phone call a few months ago, and they said they would have to start the claim again but it's taking forever. We planned to sell the car, but now it's lost thousands in value over a year and we cannot sell with a huge dent in the front, not to meantion it obviously isn't 100% safe. It will cost far too much to just get it done, think we were quoted a grand or so for it - what can we do to hurry it along? Report solicitors to trading standards? Ombudsman? (sp).

Will get DH onto it, it's a nightmare. They always fob us off, just realised it was June 9th 2006 when it happened.

Don't know the answer tbh. Is your issue still with the insurance company itself ?

My mum also had an accident almost a year ago , a Dutch lorry sideswiped her on M25 as she was in his blind spot in the middle lane and he mvoed across. Her insurance company sorted the repair quickly but she was stung with £150 excess on collecting it to be recovered by another company from the other driver's insurance and she is still waiting . When she declined to make a Personal Injury claim they seemed to lose interest. She's a pensioner and £150 is a lot to her .I 've got her to write and threaten to take it further, as she may have Legal Cover under her RAC cover, perhaps you would ?
