Long-term rental on AirBnB ?

Looking for a tenant weekdays only (not in a major city) and not having success with the usual websites.

Is AirBnB any good for this?

Anyone found a good tenant this way? And how did you describe the listing & get around the rather prescriptive descriptions ...

Please don’t do this. Think of the neighbours and their constant disturbance with your ‘guests’ in and out.

I feel quite passionately about this as someone whose life has been negatively impacted by fellow owners’ in my block and their attitudes which not only breach their title deeds, mortgage conditions and insurance, it’s socially irresponsible IMO

I think you have misunderstood what I am doing misdemeanour.

I am looking for a long-term tenant who works locally away from home, and goes away at weekends to their family.

In a self-contained annex attached to my house - we are their only neighbour!

Wondered whether AirBnB was a good way to find such a person.

I don't think you'll find this through Airbnb.

What about contacting large employers?
What type of person are you envisaging doing this? Is there actually the market for this locally?

grumiosmum · 19/09/2018 18:34

Yes, we had a previous tenant for 3 years.

Found through an estate agent. This time the place has been empty for 3 months.

I think trying large employers is a good idea too.

Have a look at fivenights.com and spareroom.co.uk OH has used them both to rent a weekday room when he works away

grumiosmum · 19/09/2018 18:38

Tried those gussie, but didn't get anyone.

Which is why I'm thinking AirBnB.

My parents have an airb&b and they have a six month tennet who does exactly what your describing. He booked for the first week induction at his new job placement went home booked the next week, now he arrives on a sunday evening stays until friday mornimg.

The appartment (sectioned off part of my parents house) is cleaned and set up for weekend guests. But thats their choice to accept weekend guests.

littlemiss i appricate that their are people that do what you are describimg and break morgage deeds and in fact airbandb own rules but you had no information about the sort of set up the op lives in

My parents live in a very rural area, its a detached house. Once there were four kids now we're all living our own lives spread between birmingham and london, no need to ever go home. So why shouldnt my parents make use of their house it doesnt bother anyone else.

Really interesting naught. Exactly what we want.

I think we should just accept 1-week bookings & hope that we find someone who wants to come back over the longer term. At least it will bring some money in while the place is empty & we can continue to look for tenants through other channels.

I know people who have been very successful in renting to long term week day tents through air bnb.

As a consumer, Airbnb is a good start.

We recently set up a long term agreement with a person / property we found on Airbnb for a member of our management. They’re seconded to a different part of the country and we needed a long term arrangement.

Cheaper than a hotel and has more benefits like living area, kitchen (to cook and not eat “out”) and security that it’s the same place. Our Airbnb person has been fabulous as has actually done us a deal for a mon-sun arrangement for 1 month for a set price.

It works, obviously there needs to be the demand for your type of annex, the location etc.

As a side note, we specifically were looking for somewhere that would accept a sensible dog too and now person had found a dog walker (the Airbnb retiree owner!) to pay privately!

My parents is a self contained little appartment, with as much facilities as i have in my one bedroom flat. Ie bedroom/study living area kitchen and bathroom. So its much more than youd get in hotel your able to call it home.
They werent aiming for a long term rent at all, although i thought that would be their biggest draw, they dont live in an area that has many "attractions" as such., but i could see people who were starting jobs finding it a place to stay durinf the week

I think you can set minum stay, and you can definately set when you dont want guests cos my parents went on holiday, so blocked that time ofc the booking calender.

I think if you accept there might be a change over every week forvthe first few months, one might actally go i would like to stay longer.
