Bulb doesn’t do that, tbf

I’ve been with them for just over a year & there have only been 2 tiny increases in that time (about £1.50 & £2) but they’ve just come through with a much bigger increase from November - an extra £18. I think they had bought in a lot in advance at much better rates and that will all have gone now.

Before I joined they had actually had a couple of decreases too so we’re starting from a much lower base.

I will stick with them though - it’s still cheaper than my Scottish Power fix would have been 12 months ago!

Check, as the prices I get when I compare, is for an equal amount per month, all year round. It doesn't go up in Winter, they take what you use when the heating isn't on, add it to what you use when it is, and then divide into 12 equal monthly payments.

Lostandfound81 · 13/09/2018 07:06

Odd that people aren’t distinguishing between different times of the year.

Feb 2018 - £120
August 2018 £61

Three bed

My direct debit doesn’t change between time of year lost, I thought that was the point of a direct debit with a Utility Co, to even out the spend.

LapdanceShoeshine · 13/09/2018 09:22

Presumably it’s possible with some suppliers to pay the actual amount used every month by DD instead of a fixed amount?

I don’t see why you’d want to though - knowing how much to budget for every month is more useful!

champagneplanet · 13/09/2018 10:35

£103, 3 bed 1950's terrace. Expecting to be in credit after the winter though. We love the heating and I use my tumble dryer a lot.

cookiemon666 · 13/09/2018 12:47

I am on pre payment metre for both has and electric. £20 per week for electric and £15 per week for gas but only in winter months. There is 5 of us, 3 teenagers, me and an 11 year old. Couldn't afford a direct debit because of the possibility it would be increased

Mc180768 · 14/09/2018 10:28

Two-bedroomed bungalow.

I monitor gas and electricity usage rigoursly. I read my meters each month, work it out and make a payment online. I don't do direct debit. I pay £37 for electric in the summer and £42 in winter. Gas - £11.00 was my last bill and can jump to £50 in winter. (Heating and cooking)

I refuse to pay anything direct debit unless a fixed cost, phone, broadband, water and TV licence C/T car insurance and car tax.

3 bed house and pay £90, £60 has and £30 electricity.
