as some wally holiday maker reversed into her poor little corsa and has dented it big time.

My sis only had 3rd party, but apart from that, didnt know about the legal cover, i am so cross on her behalf.

They did swap dets, and sis rang her insurers who were able to at least tell her that this guy is insured with 2 insurance groups.

Basically i guess she has to represent herself, but how does that work..

help really needed, as she is quite a shy person and i know she's really down about it. its her first car poor thing.

thanks

oh, and sorry about the use of the word 'wally' in ref to the holiday maker, i should have used a far stronger word there.

her insurance would only deal with it if she was fully comp - they are unlikely to get involved if she has TP cover only

there are various companies who will sort you out with after the event legal cover BUT they are usually only interested if you have suffered an injury.....if not, did she arrange her insurance through a broker or intermediary as they will often be able to advise whether legal cover can be obtained.

Alternatively, she will just have to write to the other driver's insurance co. if he has done the decent thing report it to his insurers and admitted liability, it should be quite straightforward - if her car is driveable in the meantime she should get a couple of quotes for the repair cost from local garages to send to his insurers with the letter.

HTH - and that she gets it all sorted out!

she should just call his insurance co, i used to work in this area, i got calls from irate third parties all day long if he has informed them of the incident and admitted liability it will be very straightforward, they will deal with repairs etc for her, if he has not then they should contact him and take it from there

as otehr said....

if he IS insured (which it seems he is) and its clearly his fault.... which again looks pretty obviouse that he must be...

then she doesnt need legal cover.

the insurance companies will do it amongst themselves and HIS company will pay.

As far as ai understand you dont NEED legal cover to claim.... you might need legal cover if something odd and random happens...

even with fully comp if you are at no fault at all, and are in an accident... nd others are insured you can still sue them etc without legal cover!
