6-9mo baby clothes

Hi all,

Where is the best and cheapest place to buy baby clothes. Ideally looking for size 9months (6-9m or 9-12m)

We have bought everything for DS from Primark which we found fairly cheap (especially if it's out of season) but there just isn't anything in at the moment that's suitable. All thier summer bits aren't warm enough and their new winter bits are expensive and limited.

I've had bad experiences with baby bundles from eBay and a Facebook selling pages, so want to avoid if poss.

I've looked online at Asda and Sainsbury's. Again, more expensive than I'd ideally like. Tesco isn't online anymore unfortunately.

Any recommendations for cheap baby clothes?

Primark is probably as cheap as you will get, I've got a few dresses from next for £6 for winter so worth a look

champagneplanet · 27/08/2018 22:23

Hang in there and wait for Primark, that's the cheapest you'll get IMO.

The Asda sale rail can be brilliant, i've had a lot of items for a couple of pounds and not always too out of season.

Vinorosso74 · 27/08/2018 22:27

H&M do 3 for 2 on their kids basic ranges which I assume includes baby clothes. Unfortunately Sainsburys 25% off their clothes recently ended I found their baby clothes really good.

Patienceisvirtuous · 27/08/2018 22:29

Morrison’s Nutmeg range is great!

CostaGuava · 27/08/2018 22:30

Peacocks are always worth a look.

StylishMummy · 27/08/2018 22:30

If you can't afford primark then you're going t have to go second hand. Just be sure to ask the questions before paying about condition etc

Bumdishcloths · 27/08/2018 22:30

Primark is cheap but comes up smaller than everywhere else. Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury's all good.

Patienceisvirtuous · 27/08/2018 22:30

Ps how old is your DS? I could bundle up a few nice bits for you (my DS is 15 months).

Celticlassie · 27/08/2018 22:33

M&co are pretty cheap too and tend to have a good sale.

EssentialHummus · 27/08/2018 22:35

Big Sainsbury’s will have sale rails with stuff at half price. Also things like short sleeve suits and trousers I’d just buy in 9-12, they’re fine baggy/folded.

TimesNewRoman · 27/08/2018 22:36

Matalan are good value IMO

Lavenderhues · 27/08/2018 22:38

Try second hand! You can get amazing bundles really cheaply... you could try locally so you can check condition first, or carboots nct sales etc. I've bought tonnes for less than £1 an item from local mother and baby sales and usually good brands too 🙂

Katescurios · 27/08/2018 22:42

If you have a big sainsburys nearby its worth a look now, ours have loads of sale stuff at the moment, everything at least 50% off

zozozoo · 27/08/2018 22:45

Cheaper than Primark? Charity shop?

Katescurios · 27/08/2018 22:46

We got a load of leggings for DD at asda on saturday too from the sale aisle, packs of 2 for £2, a couple of outfits with tunic and leggings £4 a set and a pack of 3 long sleeve tshirts for £3.50

StylishDuck · 27/08/2018 22:55

Asda are usually quite good for multipacks. I got 4 pairs of different coloured joggers for DS for about £6 and 5 t-shirts for about £7-8.

If you're not keen on primark then the supermarkets are usually the next cheapest. Much better quality than primark as well.
Morrisons Nutmeg range is really good. About £3 average for a t-shirt.

Bumdishcloths · 27/08/2018 23:11

Oh and check out eBay, search "6-9 month bundle". You can get stuff super cheap if you're clever about it.

Bumdishcloths · 27/08/2018 23:12

Oh just reread about bad experiences with eBay. Ignore that then.

Raver84 · 28/08/2018 06:08

I think asda prices are similar to primark and far better quality also h and m.
With mine I skipped a lot of the ages so instead of buying 6-9 which would be outgrown rapidly i went for a size bigger which worked fine especially for things like pjs. He is quite a big baby and my girls are too. Things like coats I always size up to get the most wear out of it.

If Primark is too expensive for you then it will have to be second hand. You will not get cheaper than primark.

If you have had bad experiences with eBay and Facebook sales, try nct sales, charity stores, and car boot sales. You can look at the clothes before you buy.

gigi556 · 28/08/2018 06:26

Don't give up on second hand! Try charity shops. I bought my DS 1 year 10 items for 10p each at Marie Curie the other day. I don't use eBay or Facebook, I buy everything at charity shops or second hand sales like Mum2Mum, NCT, TableTots (if you're in Yorkshire). I honestly only wish I'd discovered these before he was born. Would have saved way more money.

If you must buy new, I like ASDA, Boots and H&M.

supercalifragilistic2 · 28/08/2018 06:32

Mothercare has about 50% online and about 25% if your local store is closing down.

Tesco, sainsbury and Asda really good. Most of ds's bits have come from there, and I normally get most of his stuff from there. The websites for tesco and sainsbury clothes are rubbish, so have a look in store.

H&M seem to have a cheep range and tops are about £2 ish. Ds has a few bits from there. I find the fit is smaller than some places (probably similar sizes to primark), but they do some nice tops.

Peacocks again is fairly cheap and normally priced about the same as primark.

silkpyjamasallday · 28/08/2018 06:52

I have a little cashmere cardigan (grey zip up, boys section) that DD never wore as I lost it in a move, rediscovered now I've finally unpacked. I'm happy to send it to you rather than taking it to a charity shop, PM me

sirlee66 · 28/08/2018 08:51

Wow, woken up to so many replies! Thank you!!

DS is actually only 5 months old. His 3-6 month old clothes still fit but it's only going to be a couple of weeks until he needs the next size up. Going for 9m to get the most wear out of it.

I think we were spoiled in Primark before he was born as they had tables and tables of tops and bottoms for about £1/£1.50. Went in the other day and it's all now £3/£4ish but from reading some replies I take it that is a good price anyway. I must have gone in previously during a clear out of their old stock.

Going to have a look in some charity shops today and on FB and eBay (with your tips) and gold out for more range at Primark and also have a look in Tesco and Morrisons.

Thank you so much to the posters who said they had some bits and bobs they could send. That's so lovely and I really appreciate your offer.
