Budget app

I'm looking for a budget app which DH and I can both access.
I've looked into a few but they are all so complicated!
I just want one where we enter what we each spend and allocate it to a category (such as groceries, care, etc). Then we can see at the end of each month what we have spent our budget on.
Any recommendations would be appreciated! Thanks.

The 'Good budget' app if free for the basic level, which suits us perfectly. Accessible by 2 devices. You can have 10 monthly categories so groceries, etc and 10 annual ones for holidays, savings and insurance for example. You choose you're categories and budget. We've used it for a few years now.

I use jiosoft money manager. Very easy to use and you can create whatever categories you need and keep track of your banking.

We use YNAB. There is a bit of a learning curve on it, but we have used it for nearly three years now & it’s been life changing.

I downloaded so many apps and didn't like any of them! 😂 my dh is not very good at inputting that kind of stuff either. In the end I got the Kakebo book which contains a diary, I write it all down with a pencil!

I second YNAB. It is accessible from the PC and mobile phone for both you and your DH. It's totally flexible and although there is an annual fee after the trial period, you will save so much more than you ever pay. It really is life-changing.

Sometimes your card can do all this, without having to enter individual transactions, which sounds incredibly tedious.

We do just about all our spending on a cashback credit card, which is paid off in full every month and when the statement is available online each month, all spends are catergorised and it also says which card was used, mine or DPs. Some of the categories are a bit odd (eg McDonalds counts as entertainment(!) but you can download it all into a spreadsheet and easily change things like that en masse.

Other people recommend things like the Monzo card, which does a similar thing.

@BarbaraofSevillle I e found the trouble with that is sometimes I want to break down a supermarket shop into food, household, toiletries and I can't do that with a transaction being automatically categorised. You have to break it down manually.
