HMRC Income Tax Refund

Hi all, I lost my job beginning of August and went through the process of claiming UC until I get back in to work.
I was informed yesterday I could claim back the income tax i’ve paid this year as what I have actually earned is way below my tax threshold.
So I checked all details and the website said I can claim a refund of £328.40, I filled out the P50 form on government website, but it did not ask me for any bank details, just stated they have recieved my claim and will be in touch within 15 working days.

Has anyone claimed tax back before? What are the next steps and how long does it roughly take to process?
This money would be amazing right about now but i’m having such a shitty run of luck i’m not feeling very optimisic!
Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

I'm surprised you are able to claim tax back now, we're only 5 months into the tax year. What happens if you get a job quickly?
I have no idea how long it will take, I've only ever reclaimed tax at the end of the tax year then it's pretty much an automatic process

I've reclaimed tax before, and it was paid via a cheque in the post.

I stopped working at the end of August last year, I didn't claim at the time. I got a letter at the end of the tax year saying they owed me £xx and I went online to enter my details (think I needed my account details, passport number, NI number), and the money was transferred with 5 working days. I imagine it will be a similar process once your claim is processed.

They asked if I would be starting employment in the next 4 weeks which unfortunately is not likely.

Who advised you to claim your tax back? I believe that, as you're claiming benefits, you need to give your p45 to the job centre. Any overpaid tax is then either returned when you start a new job or at the end of the tax year.

I claimed 86 pound last month online it was in my bank account within 3 days I'm sure there was a part where you put your bank details

I have retired and started drawing down from my pension pot in July.
I got a tax refund in 10 days after applying.
They emailed me to tell me I would be getting one...all info was on.my HMRC account.
Got £6000 back

The problem is that if you do get a job and earn more than the personal allowance before next April, you will end up having to pay any refund back.

If you can then I'd be inclined to try and hold out until nearer the end of the financial year.
