Universal credit with two part time workers

Wondering if anyone has any knowledge of claiming UC with two part time workers. I cannot find anything online which gives a clear answer.

I currently get an additional payment for LWCRA but I'm starting to feel better. I don't think I could manage full time but would like to do part time. The idea being that I would work 3 days as well as my husband doing 3 days and then we would pay one day child care.

Up until now we've been asked to nominate a primary carer for our one year old. This person is not required to work. We'd really like to split all these duties 50/50. Financially I think they'd end up giving us less because we'd be doing 6 days collectively, but something makes me think they won't make it easy for us to do this. (I wonder why?! Hmm).

If anyone is in this situation would be great to hear from you.

As long as between you you are earning the minimum of 35 x nmw I think they would leave you alone as with a one year old one of you has no work commitments. Obviously the more you earn between you the more your Uc entitlement will be reduced.

Thanks I hope so. I don't think I will be able to find a part time role in what I'm qualified in as it's quite a full on job and they expect 40+ hours a week.
DH isn't really qualified in anything but would like to work part time and do an adult evening study course.
At the moment we have fairly low earning potential but we're hoping with some courses under our belts we can earn a bit more and not need UC at all.
