Please tell me what you're paying for your water on a meter!

We're in a bed semi, I think we're reasonably water conscious. DH not so keen.

That should say 3 bed semi.

I know it’s not what you asked but there is an article in the paper today about a report by the Money Advice Service which says that households with water meters could be paying 60% more for their water than unmetered households, despite tending to use less water. Apparently unmetered homes pay an annual fixed amount based on the rateable value of their property, and these valuations could be years out of date.

I've had between 1 and 6 people living in my house over the years and the water bill roughly equates to £100 per person per year. Meter of course.

We pay £20 something a month

Nix32 · 20/08/2018 18:52

£38. Before the meter was fitted it was £96 per month.

There's a calculator on the YW website that asks for how many people, showers, loads of washing, that sort of thing, that can help you work out whether you would be better on a meter, for your usage.

Rates can vary enormously, we're in Yorkshire and our first house was about £13 a month and our second was nearly £40. We're now on an assessed charge of about £35 pm because we can't have a meter due to shared pipes with other houses on the street.
