Euro account in UK

Hi All,

I would need to open a Euro account in the UK. Unfortunately my bank doesn’t offer these. I have inherited a sum of money from someone in the Euro zone. Ideally I don’t want the money paid in to my regular current account. The exchange rate isn’t great as such would prefer to keep the cash in Euro’s until I decide what to do with the money. Thanks

Speak to them about opening an account in Jersey in €. I have my accounts there in £, $USD, DDK and €. It's really easy to maintain and manage balances between the accounts as all in one place.

You can hold Euros with Revolut but maybe not wise for 'inheritance' sums!

I looked into this as I earn in euros, pay for goods in euros and was paying exchange rates each time.

Some of the big banks do offer euro bank accounts but they will charge a monthly fee. Depending on the amount of money and the length of time you're planning on keeping it, the monthly fees might mount up considerably.

You're also assuming that the pound is going to rise again against the euro, which is by no means guaranteed.

We have a Barclays Euro account based at a UK branch

Thanks. Will look in to Barclays. Paying a fee is better than having the money exchanged in to sterling at a high street bank rate.
