UC - this months payment

Our income last month dropped by a good deal and I'm sat trying to work out how this will effected my universal crefit claim this month.

All I've managed to find online is how it's all calculated but not a actual calculator to work out roughly what is due in this month - because of the dip in income our debt increased slightly and I'm hoping to be able to back pay some of the debt as our income is back to normal this month.

Is there anyone good out there that could tell me roughly what to expect?

Allowance : 1240
Work allowance : 198
Income: 1045

I've worked it out as income minus work allowance : 1045 - 198 = 847

Allowance minus above : 1240 - 847 = 393 payment.

That seems too much, where am I going wrong?

£847 x 0.63 = the amount to be deducted from your total UC allowance of £1240.

So I work out you will get £706.39 Uc.

OnNaturesCourse · 11/08/2018 19:20

Oh, right.

That seems a lot.

It does but your maximum.UC amount is high.

OnNaturesCourse · 11/08/2018 19:30

Is that the 1240?

Its because we get the maximum housing element and a child element.

Normally we aren't paid anything, or very little, but DP was out of work for a while.

Have you tried looking on entitledto?
Might give you a rough idea?

OnNaturesCourse · 11/08/2018 19:57

Yes. That site is a headache for me.

Its a one off as our income dropped last month but is back to normal. I guess that's what it's there for, help when needed.

It's definitely right, that's how much I get and we have a very similar allowance and my income is virtually the same as that.

OnNaturesCourse · 13/08/2018 10:10

Thanks LG.

It will really help as like I say it was a sudden drop last month and we had to put a few outstanding things on the credit cards.

Thankfully everything back to normal this month but looking like a drop again in a few months so handing now knowing how to work it all out.

With UC it's meant to make work pay (until you earn enough to cancel it out) so given you'll be about £500 better off than just having UC, that us about right and makes it worthwhile working, if you weren't there would be no point 😊

OnNaturesCourse · 13/08/2018 11:55

Okay. Makes a bit more sense now.

Only DP works at the moment, I'm a SAHM after losing my job to redundancy so every penny counts atm.

I can imagine, my work failed my probation in May, blatantly because I am pregnant but I can't prove it. So I am watching every penny atm until I go back to work.

OnNaturesCourse · 13/08/2018 12:16

It's terrible, isn't it.
I was pregnant when I lost my job, and very much showing so funny enough didn't secure another job even after a number of interviews. Now it's a case of 'why have you been out of work..'
Can't win.
