Experience of universal credit mistakes being corrected?

I was due a first payment this week. Online shows the entire payment has been reduced by the amount of other income I recieve - but this is child maintenance. My understanding is that child maintenance doesn't count re universal credit so hopefully an error.
Any experience of how long it takes for an error to be corrected. I'm rather screwed re bills on Monday. And long term if not an error.

Write a message in your journal to explain then ring to follow it up and repeat every day until you get it paid. Once someone authorises it, its same day but you have to get through to the right person.

So payments can in theory be made instantly if I get the right person. (Assuming it is an error). Thanks. That's encouraging.

Yeah they do an instant bacs payment so its same day. They tell you to wait til 8pm. The first time I thought they were fobbing me off again but it actually happened.
Some of the operators aren't very confident or sound like theyre new so you need one who understands that maintenance isn't included as income when you claim benefits and that person will sort it out.

I've just found if they have something to read to clarify it helps. They make little errors a lot my most recent one was £400 and it took a few weeks but i only rang a few times.

You can get a change of circumstances loan if you move house or change jobs. It's interest free but they can't tell you how much they can give straight away so you have to ask and then they will tell you. I think the maximum is about £800 so its worth asking about that if you're struggling. Change of circumstances might include starting a claim although I'm not sure.

Hope it gets sorted soon. I would find it all comical if it wasnt causing people such hardship.

That must be quite a chunk of CM to reduce the whole claim to nothing.

Babyroobs · 28/07/2018 21:50

You just need to ring them on Monday and point out the error.

Sleeeeeep · 28/07/2018 22:08

Yep Bayroobs, but the CM is relative. More than many get but less than my housing costs (in fact doesn't come via me at all just now), nothing left over for bills/living costs.

I've already had a loan as I moved from income support to start new job and have paid out childcare upfront for holidays so counting on payment this week.

I will call Monday but it'll be the end of the day and I'm trying to figure what my situation is likely to be.

If you don't mind me asking - how do they even know what CM you get, they don't have access to your bank statements. I'm struggling to understand how the mistake was made as HMRC only report earnings to UC. When you start your new job if you have a mortgage and if you are not getting the rent element then you get a much higher work allowance ( the amount that is discounted before earnings are taken into consideration ).

Babyroobs · 28/07/2018 22:16

I've read on other forums though that when this mistake happens they tend to rectify it fairly quickly.

Sleeeeeep · 28/07/2018 22:24

Dont mind you asking as it's anonymous. I had a question on my journal saying you told us you have other income, please provide details. I replied saying the £x amount child maintenance which is currently covering mortgage costs.

At my initial interview the person asked how I was paying the mortgage as I hadn't been claiming the mortgage relief and I wonder if she recorded it as "other". So I'm hoping it's an error.

Yes the allowance is high and I'll be counting on UC top up until I can up my hours/salary. Right now the job feels like a financial disaster.

Hopefully it is something can be rectified quickly.

In case anyone reads in similar position....sorted instantly. No long process.

So wag at was the problem? Child maintenance?

Sleeeeeep · 30/07/2018 19:34

Yes child maintenance mistakenly factored in.
But I was impressed that on identification it was corrected immediately. I was expecting a slow officious reconsideration process.
