I know a little, I'm not an expert. If you can ask your question here, I will help as best I can .

I know a little bit but no idea how to get a PM? X

I know my way around UC very well. Happy to help, OP.

@Mc180768

Can I ask you about sanctions please? And appealing them?

My DD has just been sanctioned for giving up work, apparently having a baby wasn't a good enough reason!
Though she wasn't asked for a reason??

Any way to sort this??

Mama2017 · 15/07/2018 17:58

Just read up a little for you. Did she inform universal credit about the baby? As they should have then adjusted her claimant commitments to include the fact she has a child under 3 so wouldn't be breaking any commitments. If she didn't tell them then they would sanction for leaving work. Check the conditionality group on the sanction letter and it should be no work related requirements.

@InvisibleToEveryone

As @Mama2017, has stated UC should've been informed regarding the planned maternity period.

It sounds as though your DD has not updated UC on her circumstances. While UC is on the radar of the media, information on change of circumstances does need to be reported.

Surely, if your DD was pregnant, that would have been a factor in her existing claim?

Are you able to give some more information on your DDs situation, please? Even the devil wouldn't sanction for having a baby. There is case law in place that primary carers of children under the age of 2 years old are not expected to seek work or be sanctioned.

Babyroobs · 15/07/2018 23:52

She would need to send in her MATB1 form and then would be exempt from job seeking from 28 weeks pregnant and no conditions to look for work until her child is 2 .

She went on maternity leave , when MA finished the job centre moved her to UC, and that's as far as I know, she did it all through an advisor in a job centre though.

Mc180768 · 16/07/2018 10:23

It sounds like she's not provided the information as require. If she was migrated to UC as she's in a live service area, then she must have a legacy benefit that she was claiming for.

She won't have been sanctioned for having a baby. She will have been sanctioned for not providing information relating to her claimant commitments.

It is simple to rectify and she should have an emergency payment made if there is a payment due.

Has the baby definitely been added to her UC claim - is she receiving the child element?
