Paying into company pension while doing reduced hours

I may be forced to go down to 4 days a week so obviously my employer will only contribute for the 4 days a week.
Can I pay extra in for the fifth day and I presume it will attract tax relief? Thanks

Most pension schemes will allow you to pay additional contributions - contact your pension administrator to ask about the rules for your particular scheme. You may even find your employer matches some or all of your additional contributions. Yes, you would get tax relief on the additional contributions.

Yes, I do this. I reduced my hours on my return from maternity leave and pay extra into my pension to cover the difference in the contributions between my FT and PT hours. I don't pay tax on the contributions. My employer doesn't contribute and my extra payments just cover me - not dependants - but I think it's worth doing.
