Tax credits help!!

This morning I logged into my tax credits and it said my renewal had been processed and I'd get the reward notice in the post. I looked at payments and nothing has changed /:
I had an over payment however I'm paying that separately so surely it shouldn't affect my new claim?
Been struggling as it is :(

:( Sorry, I'm not sure. How are you paying the overpayment as they usually deduct it from my payments. Maybe you can check that they are not getting it twice?

Just looking for advice really. I have recieved a letter from hmrc saying they have information my ex partner may be living at my address. They have asked for utility bills and bank statements etc which i am happy to provide. My ex was using my address for postal reasons as he has no fixed abode or somewhere safe for his letters to go. He is my sons father and we get on even when we broke up so i was happy for him to continue doing this as none of his bills were sent here and not many letters here either. Only thing im worried about is one month he used my bank for his wages to be paid into. I was takiny child support from it then putting whatever was left over back into his account. He used mine as he was over drawn on his account so didnt want them to take all the money. I didnt think this would be a problem. Hes never lived at mine as we was never in a stable relationship. He has no fixed address for me to provide for hmrc so im worried they wont belive me and will cancel my tax credits. I cant live on jist my work wages 500 a month as this doesnt cover all my bills let alone food or anythint and i have two children. Im so worriee and feeling sick i cant stop thinking about it. If they think i need to pay money back il be happy to do so but i just dont want my tax credits to be ended because they think im not living as a single parent when i infact am! Please help!

I'd just be honest as possible with them. That's what I've done in the past and it usually works out OK. It sounds as if someone might have alerted them or seen your ex around. I wouldn't think having some of his post to you would have alerted them unless mail directly related to HMRC. Is there anyone who could have that you know?

Chantelle92 · 16/06/2018 22:16

No i dont know of anyone as everyone knows hes never lived with me. Im just so worried they will stop all my tax credits

Oceandegree · 16/06/2018 22:28

I don't think they will. As I said just be open and clear about the situation. They will have to 'prove' he lives there to stop it. It might go through to the checking/compliance department (mine have sometimes) which is a pain in the butt but that happens to lots of us.
In the meantime just make sure there is nothing that might suggest he lives there. x

What is the checking/compliance department? & what do they do? X

Oceandegree · 16/06/2018 22:53

They just asked for a bunch of paperwork from me. I needed to get my childminder and nursery to also write a letter giving details of all my payments to them to ensure my childcare was correct (which I found really embarrassing as they are busy enough as it is but my CM told me writing letters to HMRC was half of her job!) and statements, bills etc.

Chantelle92 · 16/06/2018 23:02

Yeah i can do that. Every single bill is in my name and council tax and my home is in my name hes not on any of my bills or my rent account so hoping this will be proof enough just worrying that he used my bank account for a few weeks they might think im lying x
