CareCall - emergency phone thing for elderly pple

My very elderly gfather - nearly 90 - still lives independantly even after 2 strokes. With lots of help from my mum. He has a Carecall thingy which seems to have a button to press for emergency and goes straight to er, somewhere, hossie or out of ours doctor.

He has just been told he now has to pay for this - roughly 4 quid a week. He is by no means well off. We are outraged.

Anyone know anymore about this service or where we would begin to complain??

My mum had this - think it was about £11 pm. No idea who to complain to - your MP? Can you not pay it for him otherwise?

I wouldnt expect to get this servce for free tbh. My Grandma lives alone and she is 90 and doesnt have the care call, although we would like to get it for her, would expect to have to pay for it though. Who has told you he now needs to pay?

My Nan pays dont know how much though. I thought it was normal to pay and I think £4 a week is great for what it does.

Who provides the service and who has now said your grandfather has to pay? Have you been in touch with your local social services to see what they can offer? Don't know where you live, but perhaps there's a local carers' group/office you can contact to get advice/info? (try google - "carers groups in xxxx" county you live in). HTH
