Paid clinical trials - Does it count as working income?

I'm on ESA with mental health problems. There's a trial near me related to my issues that pays £1800.
Will I get in trouble if I do it? Does anyone know how it works?

They will need to see your medical records before a clinical trial and probably wont take you if you have mental health problems, sorry.

I took it that the trial was related to MH

Billy have MY issues are the criteria. It's a study of people with the MH problem I have.

No as they do not employ you, it is reimbursement to reflect your time and expenses. So not taxable. I did studies like this as a student.

www.weneedyou.co.uk/your-benefits/

This website contains some useful about the pay received and hmrc/benefits for trials (the info is about half way down)
