Student finance query.

I'm a bit confused regarding DS2's student finance application, so hoping someone can help me please. Dp and I have both submitted our financial details for the year ending 2017.
Today I have had a letter saying they are carrying out checks to make sure DS gets the correct amount of student finance. I've got a copy of my p60 to send, but I'm wondering now if I should have put down tax credits on the income declaration. We only got a small amount but I didn't think it needed to be declared.
Can anyone help please.

Except...tax credits aren't taxable benefits.

Your tax credits will go down when your son leaves education anyway so the amount you get now would not be reflective of what you will be getting hen he's gone to Uni surely. We are in the same situation but don't get tax credits and have 3 other younger children yet they don't seem to take any of this into consideration ?

I didn't put tax credit details down but hrmc know anyway. Even with tax credits I'm in the lowest band so it wouldn't make anyour difference to amount of loanew received.

Thanks for your replies. It doesn't look as though it needs declaring anyway. I just got a bit concerned when the letter came saying they were carrying out checks.
We only received a small amount last year anyway for DS3, and none this year.

No, I rang to ask if tax credits needed to be included because I was also confused and I was told no.
