Unsolicited Foresters sales rep turned up at my house

Has anyone else had a sales rep from Foresters turn up to the house. I'm hopping mad that last night a man turned up at 6.40pm to talk to me, I was out, so he got my 14 year old to call me up on his mobile to try and book an appointment. I was only down the road, but freaked out that some man was at my house, I told the man to hand back my kids phone immediately and got my kids to close the door and lock it.

I honestly thought it was a scam but when I called Foresters today, it was genuine. What kind of a financial organisations turns out up at someones house without an appointment. I now want to take all 5 kids trust funds away from this company. Has anyone else experience the same and can anyone recommend another place to invest. I'm still so creeped out that a man could turn up to my house and interact with my kids that way (he told one of my kids he was a magician - creepy ). Feel bad for not being in the house at the time.

I would make a formal complaint to the company. If their staff are alone at a house interacting with a child it is a safeguarding issue. When the salesman saw that your ds was home on his own, he should have just left.

14 years old is old enough to answer a door surely and he phoned you. Can't really see the problem?

You’ve got 5 trust funds with them? So you’re a repeat customer and they have your details?

I had issues with foresters too a few years ago. They claimed that they had to meet with me before they could pay out the proceeds of my tiny policy that they had "bought" from twefs. After I had explained to them that I was a chartered accountant, had worked in the city all my life and couldn't find the regulation that required this they backed down. But very reluctantly, apparently "people" need help investing £2k. I have never invested since with them. #charlatans so your post does not surprise me.

Hi OP, I’ve been with The Foresters Friendly Society for years and have found them excellent, both in terms of their savings products and customer service. They work on the basis of having local agents, which may not appeal to everyone, but I’ve had no issue with that. Their agents (or certainly are in my case) are retired people who are very committed to the ethos of Friendly Societies. The returns they give on their products are very competitive so it may be worth you just giving them a call and telling them you don’t want any further visits rather than just closing the savings accounts down.
