If Aldi delivered?

I'm really annoyed that Aldi doesnt deliver groceries because they really do sell the best quality.

If they offered home delivery, would you use it too?

It's clearly more expensive for them to deliver than you to collect - is it not obvious? they'd have to charge a lot for the delivery itself to keep their prices down.

Yes, it's clearly more expensive to deliver than collect, of course I realise that. My query is why has it taken (or will have taken) 6 years to develop that model.

My local one is up a steep hill and I have given up my car so it is a fine walk. However the extra staff, logistic of delivery etc would make the price go much higher .

ClashCityRocker · 28/05/2018 20:12

Don't know... Its quite hit and miss as to what's in stock at our local one, so I can imagine deliveries might not work well.

Mind you, I live ten minutes walk away from one so it's not hardship to walk - I imagine I'd feel definitely if it was more of a trek.

I worry it would push prices up - realistically, how many people would shop at aldi if it was asda/tesco priced? They'd need to make sure they could get enough customers to make the deliveries possible so it didn't have a knock on effect on he prices and I don't know how feasible that is - isn't it something tesco have struggled with?

No. I genuinely don't see why people rave about it.

sprinkleofsunshine · 28/05/2018 21:23

I would love it too! Did a shop there today and got so much good stuff but I usually just get food delivered from elsewhere as so much easier

Bagadverts · 28/05/2018 21:34

I've been with family before and I'd love it. I can't drive and my nearest one isn't near public transport. If I factor in a taxi it doesnt make it worth it. (Also have a disability so probably wouldn't keep up with packing on my own.)

Online food shopping actually ends up
Costing the store.... you don't spend as much on random stuff or see the offers as much as you do when in store, so the store loses out. So I can see why Aldi/Lidl doesn't offer it.... but yes I totally would use it if they did!
