Insurance after surgery

I have just had a vaginal reconstruction(due to big awkward babies-not cosmetic reasons!)
My consultant gave me the low down on what I could and couldn't do post-op.
Most things I can only do in 4 weeks, but he said I could drive in 2 weeks.
I am a nurse, and often say to my patients that they can drive in a couple of weeks if they can do an emergency stop comfortably.
My mother is going off her head cos i have said I am going to drive 3 days before the 2 weeks is up. She says I wont be insured.
What would you do?

If you have a section, you definitely have to inform your insurance comp and ask them if it's ok for you to drive earlier than 6 weeks so I'd imagine it's the same for any surgery where you've been told not to drive for a certain period. When I had my section, the hospital (and my insurance company) did say that if I didn't check before driving early, then I might be insured.

sory - I meant 'might NOT be insured' (last sentence)
