Husband only mortgage

For many reasons my DH will be the only person on our new mortgage. Can explain why if need be but it makes most sense financially at the moment, I'm in and out of contract work anyway and he can borrow more as a single applicant (on a v high salary).

I've just been sent a standard form to sign by his lender about being an adult occupier in the property - essentially that I don't have an interest in it. Can I presume the form would be largely null and void should we ever divorce based on the fact that we are married (7 years plus) with 2DC that I've taken most care of?

Anyone with experience of this form and its validity in this situation?

I am in the opposite position (I bought the house and mortgage in my name only) - my understanding is the form is to protect the bank's rights to repayment of mortgage (and repossession in the event of non-payment). If we divorce then he would be entitled to half of the equity - and all if I die!

I am watching this as I’m in an identical position

My dh had the mortgage only on his wages but I was put on the application. When we exchanged contracts we put the house in both names as tenants in common.
Is this not possible anymore

My mortgage is in my name only. My DH had to sign this form. In layman’s terms it means that if your DH stops paying the mortgage, you can’t stop it being repossessed.

Totally standard and Nothing to worry about.

We would not be able to become joint tenants to tenants in common atm - we will do when mortgage is paid.

19lottie82 that's fab thank you - and yes as soon as mortgage free we'd make it joint tenants
