Faulty shower - please help me!!!

I bought a shower in Feb from a DIY chain. Today I got up to find my kitchen ceiling soaking wet.

Anyway next door happen to be having their bathroom done so we nicked their plumber to take a look. Turns out the shower is faulty. It's dripping internally from somewhere that definitely shouldn't be dripping.

So I ring the store I bought it from, speak to a manager, and he says someone will ring me to come out and sort it but I need my receipt and warranty card. Have been looking but can't find it. I have a bank statement showing I paid £90 to the DIY chain.

Then got another call from DIY store saying to call a number and tell them what's happened and they'll send someone out. It was the manufacturer and they're saying my bank statement is insufficient because it doesn't prove to them that I bought their shower. (It only says the store name and amount)

So, what do I do?

TIA

Should have said really that I'm quite happy to shout and demand until I get what I want but it's Mr Nutty that's gonna be sorting it as I'm away for a while. He's not so good at this kinda thing and needs to know what he can say about how we stand legally IYSWIM. (i.e. anything he can quote at them to get it sorted & who he should say it to)

Did you send in the warranty card when you bought it? If so, the manufacturer may have a record of it - cretainly a large well known UK firm of shower manufacturers beginning with T had all our details when we rang...no need to prove purchase if this is the case.

That would be "certainly" - sorry!

there will be a transaction number on your statment , the store can cross ref this as they have to keep all records for ages ,i.e. years before the can dispose of them!
They will not want to do it but they are able to,as i found out when i had to return a lawn mower to B&Q

having searched high and low for the receipt I still cannot find it, so i think i'm going to have to try to get the retailer to confirm purchase from the bank statement reference.

Unfortunately I never get round to sending off the waranty cards, so that option's out.

Thanks jan and flossie for your suggestions.
