Less than half that.
2 adults and a 16 yr old (and a 21 yr old who isn't here that much).

It does depend on comparing like for like - do you include school dinners or do they take packed lunch... do the adults take packed lunch..... does this include cleaning stuff, toiletries etc........ do you then have takeaways or meals out on top of that....... do you also do 'top up shops'..
Sometimes people start threads asking for help to spend less but then say
"I can only eat organic"
"I can only shop at Waitrose"
"I must have a fancy, full meal every night"
"I won't eat anything 'left over' or heated up"
"I must have my 14 portions of out of season fruit"
and so forth, which doesn't really sit with money saving.

I think like the money advice you will need to write down everything you eat/use in a week first and then work from there. There are always people on here who can eat for £2 a day. I find that hard to believe unless you have the time to chase after yellow stickers or go to multiple shops.

The easiest way to save money on food is to eat less and meal plan. Also eat eggs and lentils rather than meat.

2 adults, 2 DC and £100 a week. I think it's a reasonable amount to spend though. 21 meals plus snacks for DC.

I aim for £25 per person per week, usually manage it fine. That is breakfast stuff, packed lunch/lunch at home and evening meal, tea/coffee, cold drinks. Only do one shop a week, and maybe pick up some milk/bread in the middle.
Try meal planning and then online shopping I find paying for delivery is cheaper than picking up extra in the shop when I see things

I spend £100 on myself and my two -very tall- teenagers (18 and 15). I really struggle to cut down, and that's without any alcohol (for myself!) and little meat. This will however include all our dinners, including lunches, and cleaning products, the odd pair of socks/tights/underwear, batteries, medicine, paper plates etc....

Two adults 1 dc aged 16 and we spend about £120 a week without alcohol

Icequeen01 · 09/05/2018 21:35

Two adults, 1 DC18 and two spoilt cats. I spend approximately £150 per week. That includes packed lunches each day for the 3 of us plus all toiletries etc. I shop in Sainsbury's so that may be why it's so high but I'm embarrassed at how much we spend.

mrssapphirebright · 10/05/2018 12:42

Two adults and two teen dc here (although they go to their dads twice a week so only feed them 5 days a week).

We spend £100 a week, two dogs included. Also includes all cleaning products, alcohol and toiletries all bar make up. we all take pack lunch to school / work. Doesn't include fortnightly takeaway or fortnightly meal out. So effectively we only cook 6 nights a week.

i do all my shopping online and make sure i stick to a meal plan, it really helps with budgeting.

We're one adult and two teen DS, 18 and16. I spend on average about £70 a week.

MissReginaPhilange · 10/05/2018 12:56

Prepared to be called cheap for shopping here but I genuinley don't care.
I shop in Aldi for the most part except chicken which is bought from bookers 20quid for 5 kilo as oh is on a diet so eats a lot.
Spend 60 In aldi which feeds 2 adults a 5 year old a 4 year old and a 16 month old who has multiple allergies so literary everything is made from.scratch. Oh and a dog. And we don't eat frozen food much either

MissReginaPhilange · 10/05/2018 12:57

And that's includes toiletries cleaning stuff etc too Grin

LIZS · 10/05/2018 13:01

About £80 plus one takeaway and lunches for dh and dd

MessySurfaces · 10/05/2018 21:18

We all have hollow legs and eat big portions, but two adults, 1 ks1 child (so free lunches) and 1 preschooler. We eat very little meat, but bake a lot, and take packed lunches and snacks. Booze and cleaning bits are not included.
I can do all organic and The Best If Everything, some fish, for £100 a week, or Lidl it and come in at about £50, keeping organic for the milk, eggs, and fruit you don't peel.
We do grow our own salad leaves, and make absolutely everything from scratch. Once the kids are teenager I'm expecting them to bankrupt me, based on what me and DP were like as teens.

stoneagemum · 10/05/2018 22:36

Not quite the same as only one adult and 1 adult DC, not I spend £100 on a big monthly bulk shop and then about £60 each of the following weeks on top ups so £340 a month.

This includes all cleaning materials, cat food and alcohol, but ds does eat one meal at least 4 times a week at work.

BG2015 · 12/05/2018 21:45

2 adults and one 15 yr old teenage boy and we spend £60-70 a week. That includes toiletries and cleaning stuff. Packed lunches for us all and rarely have a takeaway.

We shop in Aldi with an extra small shop at Morrisons. We cook everything from scratch and have 2 meat free meals a week which makes a difference.

We freeze all leftovers and every couple of months have a mixture of meals.
