Different credit ratings on different sites

I have tried Experian and got a rating of 998 and Clearscore and got a rating of 350.
How do I know what to go by and if I'll be accepted for new credit?

You don't know whether you will be accepted for credit or not and all CRA's use different ways of scoring you. Lenders don't see your credit 'score', they see the information on your file and make a decision whether to lend or not.

Igonore your score. It doesn’t actually exist. No one sees it apart from you. Lenders don’t see it.

Your credit “history” is what you should be concerned about.

No one can tell you if you will be accepted for credit or not but potential lenders will take the following into consideration

  • do you have any CCjs?
  • late or missed payments on your credit history?
  • current salary
  • current debt
  • current available credit
  • are you on the electoral register?

Lenders don't see your score from the credit ref agencies. They do their own checks & each will have their own criteria for lending, as PPs have said.

Martin Lewis has a Credit club which you can sign up to - it aims to tell you whether you are likely to be accepted by different lenders, before you actually apply. Might be worth a look if you're wanting to apply for credit?
