Online mortgage brokers

Hi all,

So I have inherited half of my grandmothers house, my brother has inherited the other half. We are currently renting so have no idea when it comes to mortgages etc. We are looking to get a mortgage to buy out my brother so we will own the house 100% and we can move in to it. The only problem is we don't have brilliant credit history, both have ccjs that are a few years old and defaults again a few years old. Everything is paid off though.

My question is, has anyone used an online mortgage broker? There are lots online for 'adverse credit mortgage' brokers, I don't really know where to start? Or is it better to see someone in person for advice to help us find a mortgage?

Thanks in advance

I would go and see someone in person and be prepared to go through everything with them. It is much easier to talk through the options face to face.

I'm not sure how easy it will be with both of you having bad credit history, but obviously depends on the details, how much you want to borrow, how much you earn.

I would definitely see someone in person. Someone whole of market that won't charge you a fee, they will have seen people with adverse credit before, and people that have no idea about mortgages, there is no need to be embarrassed, just be open and honest and they will do their best for you.

I wouldn’t get your hopes up if you have multiple CCjs tbh. No harm in asking though.

If you’re not successful then could you rent your brothers half from him for however long it takes for the nasties to fall of your credit history (6 years for when they first appeared), then get a mortgage to buy him out?

Thanks for the advise ladies, sorry I have only just seen them! We have been to see a mortgage advisor in person and gone through everything, now waiting to hear back and see if there is anything we can get! Fingers crossed! X
