Life insurance for people with epilepsy?

I need to sort out life insurance but I was diagnosed with epilepsy 3 years ago after being blue lighted to a&e after a seizure. I've not had any grand mals or emergency admissions since however I do still have partial seizures so it's classed as uncontrolled.

This appears to make me uninsurable, I don't mean expensive/limited options but literally no one will touch me.

Can anyone recommend somewhere that might be able to insure me? I know I'll pay a lot but I need to get this in place.

I don't have any through my employer or pension as I've recently changed jobs.

Thanks.

Have you gone through an insurance broker? This was the only way that I managed to find any - you often get more options through a broker than you would online.

Yes, we did. We used all the ones recommended on Nartin Moneysaver and a couple of others. :(

Did the brokers you used give you any feedback from the underwriters they spoke to in trying to place this piece of business? If you were my client, I would be asking what needed to happen in order for the insurers to consider cover - what exactly is it that poses the highest risk to them; if you were classed as controlled how would that differ. You may then be able to use that feedback constructively or have a timescale of when they might be willing to re-consider you.

Is there anything that can be done to help bring your partial seizures under control?

You could give Cirencester Friendly a go. I have a different health problem but they gave me insurance with exclusions. The likes of Aviva were a straight no.

OrcinusOrca - I don't think we tried Cirencester. I'll take a look. Thank you.

Sunseed - they've said it's because I had an energency admission within x number of years. All I can do is reapply after that time frame if I've had no other emergency admissions.
I'm trying to sort the partials but it's one of those things.

What do you mean when you say no one will touch you? How many insurers have you contacted? A family member managed to get life insurance despite suffering from a medical condition (not epilepsy). Two brokers told him he had no chance, but in the end he managed to get a decent quote from Aviva. Two other insurers quoted 1.5x as much as he's paying Aviva, for the same cover but for a term of less than half. It varies wildly from insurer to insurer, with no apparent logic.
