HIPS - what does it mean?

If I was to sell my house what will it mean? What's this business of providing guarantees for work done? My DH built the kitchen - where are we supposed to get a guarantee for that.

I presume it merely means any guarantees that you have been given for work you have had carried out (or your predecessors had carried out) and which are still valid. If your dh can't give a guarantee, then you don't have to provide one. We had our kitchen done by a local builder who doesn't provide guarantees, but I wouldn't anticipate that as being a problem unless your purchaser wants to make it one.

I don't think the Home Information Pack (which incidentally is being challenged - or the legality of it being imposed is being challenged) means that you have to produce anything that you don't have to produce now, other than the energy efficiency certificate.

Thanks Freckle. Just started to panic a little as I 'm fairly sure that we don't have any guarantees for any work done, either before or after we moved in. Apart from a new boiler I suppose.
