MLM Bot Watch 38 - Large cheques are not forever

Whiterangey · 27/04/2018 21:00

I think the members of the Anti-MLM Coalition in the UK deserves to be recognised for the reduced cheques that have been received by the Forever Living bots in the UK.

They have worked tirelessly to spread the Anti-MLM message which seemed like a pointless battle when they started.

Yet here we are, the message is getting out there, and people are beginning to get the message.

People are listening. Ex-bots are telling their stories and encouraging others to leave or not to join MLM's.

You are all awesome and have worked so hard, you deserve so much respect for helping so many people.

Please can the commenting on Yawn (or anyone else's) appearance stop. It is playground bullying of the highest order and not what this group is about. While Yawn's appearance (Yawn you're gorgeous, if I could look like you for 5 minutes I would be delighted with myself) is being dissected here 100 mlm crimes are being committed by other more powerful bots. We want to be the goodies, not the baddies here.

vipers · 30/04/2018 09:51

That photo is so not accidental and something tells me won't be there for much longer.

CurlsandCurves · 30/04/2018 09:55

Steelyeyes, you’re right.

This thread is in danger of being pulled, we need to stay on topic. Its one thing to call someone out on their mlm persona slipping and the real person being revealed, it’s another to body shame.

Apologies for any part I played in that.

Whiterangey · 30/04/2018 10:12

@Steelyeyes Nobody has commented on her appearance this morning, talk has been limited exclusively to her having a half naked photo of herself out there for the world to see.

Nobody has commented on her appearance this morning, to the point that we aren't even sure if it's her.

Spongebobette · 30/04/2018 10:17

I agree that’s we should be careful

HOWEVER

the reason that someone’s appearance may be commented on is because of the contrast between filtered, posed photos (which are part of the attraction marketing designed to hook in new recruits) and the PERFECTLY NICE reality.
Trying to flog C9s by using carefully selected photos needs pointing out

Movedonup · 30/04/2018 10:21

Just seen a sponsored video pop up on my fb feed from a "martial arts" (can't use the name I think) networker. Change martial arts to another word (alliteration.)
The video is explaining why MLM's are not pyramid schemes. According to this guy the number one reason people fail at network marketing is because lack of effort or lack of skills 😂
He's hosting a very special, never seen before webinar to explain how to use social media to attract people and build your business. He has 1020 shares and 2.6k likes SadAngry

SteelyEyes · 30/04/2018 10:28

@Whiterangey there is a lot of mention of Yawn's appearance in general. It takes away from the group, we're better than that. I would like to award gold stars to all of you who sat through the live feed of the FL Dallas rally keeping us updated, you're all fab!

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 30/04/2018 10:28

Yep, what Spongebobette said.

Nothing has been said about anyone's appearance this morning.

dropdeadfitty · 30/04/2018 11:08

Agreed that commenting on anyone's appearance no matter how the picture got there is not good.
It is unfortunate that whoever is caputured is not able to do anything about the picture, they would probably be mortified and the damage it could do to their confidence should not be underestimated.

Twentytwentyhindsight · 30/04/2018 11:09

Steely has a point- I was also feeling uncomfortable with the direction the conversation was heading in. It was skating perilously close to commenting on appearances.

However, I also agree with Sponge. It is a damning indictment of the MLM world that every seemingly innocent and spontaneous post is open to massive speculation as to why it was made, and whether it was deliberate or not.

The whole smoke and mirrors, the constant and obsessive micro-management of the image one projects, the mean-girl undermining while pretending not to etc. is not just dishonest, it must be a joyless and exhausting way to live.

I had a chuckle at the post, not because of anyone's appearance (we all have bodies, nothing to see here), but because the picture (and, I believe, the caption) were a deliberate and nasty dig at someone you are allegedly eternally grateful for for providing a 'life-changing opportunity' and trip of a lifetime to.

If it wasn't for the poisonous web of deception inherent to their world, they would not be open to this sort of vulnerability. Live by the carefully staged post, die by the carefully staged post. If this is the life of a successful bot, they can keep it.

Steely, you're right- we should be better than them. They are the ones who project false images and body shame others to flog their shite. We can, and should, expose this hypocrisy and we can do it without sinking to their level.

In this case, I don't think we did (sink to their level), but we could all too easily have done.

That said, I do want to thank Roomiebot for adding many cherries to the delicious cake served up by this year's global rally, you are a great addition to my collection!

SteelyEyes · 30/04/2018 11:19

I take your points. In the case of Yawn, her business is doing badly, she cannot get recruits, she didn't qualify for a cheque in Dallas, I do believe these threads and the work you all have put in to expose her have done their job and hopefully she is now planning her way out of FL.

I also think that image was captured on purpose. It's so glaringly obvious what's reflected in it.

Angelbot has also been guilty of doctoring photos to show "weight loss" from the C9. Whilst I don't condone anyone disparaging someone's appearance, I do agree that these people need calling out on what is basically fraud.

Twinkle7 · 30/04/2018 11:51

I dont think roomie will be welcome at the thatch any more. She's made a fool of yawn intentionally or not. Roomie I imagine has irrated the group she went with. Heck she irrated TF out of me watching her fake laugh and has anyone noticed how disparaging she is about herself?? I found that quite sad really. Here you have a lady working under yawn, yawn who frequently calls her names and belittles her. Its no wonder she doesnt appear to be very confident but in the same breath is clinging onto these women who dont care for her.

Whiterangey · 30/04/2018 12:00

You have someone who wants to lose weight, maybe who has poor self esteem. See's Yawn do the C9, hears Yawn going on about how it's magical and how she has dropped 15lbs or whatever in only 9 days and it's kickstarted a healthy weight losing whatever thing.

Someone thinks they would like a bit of that, does the C9, loses quite a bit of weight due to the glycogen stores being gone and the weight being lost being water. Feels pleased with themself. Feels like utter shit and a total failure a few days later when the weight magically returns.

Blames themself and not the C9 and Yawn for pushing the C9 in the first place. Feels like they must be the shittest person in the world as they are the only person who has failed to keep that initial weight off after doing the C9.

I don’t care how much anyone weighs or what they look like

What I care about, and will continue to call out, is LYING

Whiterangey · 30/04/2018 14:09

The photo has gone! That is great news. I wonder how much in the shit she is.

dickiedavisthunderthighs · 30/04/2018 14:26

If I were her I'd be looking to swap seats with someone. A tired, cheque-free Yawn travelling in economy overnight is not someone I'd already like to be on the wrong side of.....

dropdeadfitty · 30/04/2018 14:33

"There may be trouble ahead........."

JaniceBattersby · 30/04/2018 14:39

I agree the thread has gone a little bit awry. I understand that Yawn is a bullshitter, and that the C9 doesn’t work, and factual posts pointing that out are fine but there are others that are a bit too close to the bone. I think we’re all probably guilty of straying a bit into that territory at times. Let’s keep it clean and let’s be kind.

Twentytwentyhindsight · 30/04/2018 14:43

If they're still on speaking terms, she'll be walking on eggshells. No mentioning of the cheque-in desk or reflecting on the events of the last few days...

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 30/04/2018 14:54

Something I was just pondering.....We hear a lot about bullying being rife within MLMs. If it were to happen in a normal J.O.B. you would go to your manager or HR department and there would be a procedure followed and support given.

What can bots do if they are being bullied by other bots?

If it's their upline that's the problem then who do they go to? Would it be dealt with professionally or would it be a case of it being dismissed and excuses made like "they didn't mean it I'm sure/it's because they want you to do well" ?

Does an organisation like FL have any guidance or procedures on dealing with it?

Twentytwentyhindsight · 30/04/2018 15:15

Not Sue if they do For their reps Kenny.
I'm sure they do for their actual employees, especially as they've got an "Investors in People" certification.

However, while the bots may like to crow about this when plugging their scheme, this does not apply to them.

As they also like to boast, they are "independent business owners" and, as such, qualify for none of the rights and protections of an employee.

Even if there were some sort of code of conduct, there seems that enforcing compliance to their stated rules is not a priority.

I would expect that in any case that arises, it is the bottom line that would count, and ranking bot wins.
