Steely has a point- I was also feeling uncomfortable with the direction the conversation was heading in. It was skating perilously close to commenting on appearances.
However, I also agree with Sponge. It is a damning indictment of the MLM world that every seemingly innocent and spontaneous post is open to massive speculation as to why it was made, and whether it was deliberate or not.
The whole smoke and mirrors, the constant and obsessive micro-management of the image one projects, the mean-girl undermining while pretending not to etc. is not just dishonest, it must be a joyless and exhausting way to live.
I had a chuckle at the post, not because of anyone's appearance (we all have bodies, nothing to see here), but because the picture (and, I believe, the caption) were a deliberate and nasty dig at someone you are allegedly eternally grateful for for providing a 'life-changing opportunity' and trip of a lifetime to.
If it wasn't for the poisonous web of deception inherent to their world, they would not be open to this sort of vulnerability. Live by the carefully staged post, die by the carefully staged post. If this is the life of a successful bot, they can keep it.
Steely, you're right- we should be better than them. They are the ones who project false images and body shame others to flog their shite. We can, and should, expose this hypocrisy and we can do it without sinking to their level.
In this case, I don't think we did (sink to their level), but we could all too easily have done.
That said, I do want to thank Roomiebot for adding many cherries to the delicious cake served up by this year's global rally, you are a great addition to my collection!
