Weekly pay. Universal credit experiences

So dp is weekly paid...i am on mat leave.
We get a bit of tax credits as now have the baby
Our area is moving to UC. how does it work in weekly pay.. I've heard its a faff on a 5 week Month.
We don't get much tax credits to be fair. But when my mat leave is over my hours I return on will have to lower. ( due to not being able to work Sundays at double pay) and therefore my pay will be lower so it may be worth keeping the claim going. So unsure. I have a while yet and hope if not I can get a different job with more pay and suitable hours

Your area moving to UC does not mean you will be yet. Will be 1-3 years if your circumstances stay the same.

OK thanks. My circumstances will be slightly different if my pay lowers.. Or if I can't accommodate hours around childcare then I'd have to give up work until something suitable comes up.. However I am Already looking and mat leave don't end till October so most likely find something suitable.. Always been lucky and never been out of work so everything is confusing right now.

Pay changing or you leaving your job won’t make you change on to UC as long as your dp is still working.

OK fab thank you so much. Hopefully I'll get the hours I need or a more suitable job.

You shouldn't need to move to UC unless the change means that you don't qualify for tax credits at all. Here is a list of triggers to move to universal credit. I volunteer for CAB and we have had clients say they have been told they "can" change to UC, almost always better on old benefits, so wait till they say you have to move.
