Working Tax Credit

What qualifies/disqualifies you?

Playing on the tax credits site, and the FAQ bit says it is for anyone working 30hrs + but that me & DH aren't entitled with our 70hrs combined

Guessing there is something else we do that cuts us out, but dunno what!!!

working tax is for low income families. it's child tax credit that most people get. our combined income of about 40k gives us £550 ish a year for dd, plus another £550 as she's under 1. we don't get working tax credit.

www.entitledto.co.uk

You get a basic amount after 25,000, 550ish.

Thank you

A bit

Just added in some childcare costs - and it knocks the CTC way up and gives me more in childcare than I said we would spend??

If your bordering on the 25,000 mark then I would suggest overestimating as if you say 24,000 you get a load more money, but if overtime pushes you into the 25,000 mark they ask for it all back the next year.
Dps salary is 24,000 but ive said 26,000 just in case I get work, or make a mint on ebay!

I don't understand any of it for me to work on a combined income of mine and DH's being appriox £25K p/a we're entitled to £6 p/w working credits but the other credits drop by £10 p/w (this is with child care costing us £40 p/w)

Flamesparrow · 10/05/2007 11:06

Its really odd.

I'm trying to add it up so we have earnings from the shop in there too (not much) and I am attempting to see if I can get help with childcare.

With me working 30 hrs, DH 40, our est income combined is about £22k

I looked at a local nursery site and added in 3 morning sessions p/w with them - and it shot it through the roof! Is that likely to be accurate??!!

Could I seriously be having time to work with out DS!??!

They pay UP TO 70% of your childcare costs.
I thought we would be better with me working a couple of years ago. I earnt 40 a week 2 days in the nursery and they took 40 away in tax credits

nearlythere · 10/05/2007 11:25

the childcare allowance is now 80%- it does make a massive difference!
