The remortgage was approved and I've gone with the banks solicitors ( so wish I hadn't ) in Oct formal offer beg Nov.
I'm buying my exhusband out and his name is coming off the title deeds . All that side has been done ( Conveyancing )
The case opened in November with the banks solicitors .
They have absolutely everything now up to and including my ex husbands solicitors bank account details to pay his money into and every form they have asked for .
Every bit of the process has been like pulling teeth and only moved on by me calling / e mailing etc .
Anyway the banks mortgage redemption figure expires AGAIN on Friday which will cause another delay but they have everything now surely completion can go ahead ?
Is been almost 5 months and my nerves are frayed !
I can't ever get through on the phone and e nails go unanswered hence me asking on here .

I have no idea, sorry - sounds very difficult though and I hope this gives a little bump and an expert sees it! Best wishes

The mortgage offer is probably only valid for 6mths so it's time to start really putting pressure on them.
We're doing a very straightforward re-mortgage and it has all been done in less than 4 weeks.

Should have been done months ago OP. I would be chasing the sols every other day and complaining about them loudly to the bank.

I normally aim to complete a remortgage within 2 weeks of the Loan instructions coming in unless the redemption position makes a particular date advisable
I would ask the solicitors for details of what still needs to be done and a timescale
If not happy I would escalate it within the firm

Thanks all .
I have called daily since .
Apparently the underwriters have approved it this week and they are just waiting to confirm a completion date ( Still ) but really behind in the office .
He said that it's a good thing the underwriters have done their bit and should complete any day now but will struggle to do so before bank holiday although not impossible .

I'm also desperate to order a new car as mine is on its last legs with MOT due to expire in a few weeks but have purposefully put off this incase Halifax do further credit checks ..... they would see if rightly so as another financial commitment and may review the amount they are happy to forward . I'd hate to go backwards after all these months .
Am I right in delaying this or won't they do another credit check at this stage ?
Thanks again everyone .

I would definitely delay it.
was there a problem the underwriters were looking at?
Normally reference t underwriters is before the Offer of loan is issued

Tinkerbellx · 28/03/2018 12:21

Thanks user .
I may have have the wording wrong . The Halifax solicitors said today it had all gone through the checks earlier this week and then he explained that meant they were happy with everything ( land / title deeds / Conveyancing ect .... maybe final review ) and I think he said that was done in the underwriters department . He was basically telling me everything was now ready and just needed to organise a completion date .
Yes I think months ago when I got my formal offer it went through the under writers so goodness knows what he was telling me !
