Do you get free childcare on tax credits?

Just that really. I’m a single parent, currently on income support and have a 2yo at nursery for the govt funded hours.

Would love to return to my job part time (low income) and change over to working tax credits but this would only be financially viable if I still got the free childcare...does anyone know if that would change?

Tia

Check out entitledto calculator online. Varies from person to person but tax credits are based on income and child care costs. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong

You don't get free childcare by virtue of being on tax credits, you can get up to 70% I think it is. More if you go on Universal Credit.

You will also potentially get more hours for your 2 year old when they turn 3. It's 15 hours if you're not working, but 30 hours if you're working and earning at least £120 a week. So if the childcare isn't affordable now, it might be the term after they turn 3.

You can get a percentage paid - up to 70% of your bill to a max of £120 a week if you are on a very low income.

That’s great, thanks all, I’ll factor that into my return to work asap plan 😊
