Hi everyone
I lost my job last week.can anyone advise what benefits I am entitled too
My partner doesn't work an we live in a council property an have 3 children under the age of 16

I will also be looking for work in the mean time

Sorry you lost your job, what were the circumstances, that may affect your benefits. Do you claim any benefits at the moment and do you have any savings.

Cupcakes, you would need to go to the Jobcentre to find out.
Nobody here can advise without knowing your situation.
Not sure that living in a council property makes a difference, though.

yes but what does that mean 'your contract was dismissed'? was it your fault or not?

Also, isn't working family tax credit etc worked out over the year?

Therefore if you are 'between jobs' for a week or two or so, you don't need to say anything and the payments just keep coming. As long as you are re-employed quite quickly.

If you can’t work due to illness Employment and Support Allowance or if you can work Jobseekers Allowance, Child Tax Credit, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support.

Call your Housing Officer they will be able to advise you as they have benefit advisors.

(I work for the council as a Housing Benefit Assessor)

Yes, that's a good idea, one of you should be able to find work, the other can stay home and maybe work a few hours a week and look after the children, how old are they.

How old are the children? Do they need ft childcare or could you claim free hours for either or both if you both worked?

Have you been off sick for a year, on full pay then down to half pay , I remember something like this from your other posts. Did you know that dismissal was an option. Whose been looking after the children when you were off sick. Sounds difficult for you.

You need advice really. Are they saying they can't keep you employed indefinitely after being on long term sick.

Due to poor absence
Not capable to do my job
Even when occupational health said with the correct medical help, I will get better

Have you called a.c.a.s, was all your sickness due to the accident at work. I was on long term sick, I did go back before the years pay was up,, it was down to my GP, occy health and employer to say I was fit for work, I reduced my hours but stayed in the same job.i had a phased return to work for a few weeks. I was able to go to all my sickness review meeting and was able to take my sicknotes in. If you feel ready to go back to work are you able to re apply for a similar job. What medical help did occy health recommend and did they say when you would be fit for work.

As you have three children then even if you are in a Universal Credit, you will need to apply for legacy benefits instead.

You should be entitled to housing benefit and council tax support as well as contribution-based JSA, with an income-related top up for your partner. If either of you are too sick to work, the sick person should claim ESA instead. Your WTC will stop, and your CTC will continue.

If you have been dismissed due to long-term sickness, you shouldn't be sanctioned. If you are (again, I think unlikely), this will be a challengeable decision. Best of luck.

Yes all my absences was due to the injury at work.
I attended all my attendance meetings an two occupational health appointment.

The gp gave me my fit for work certificate
I saw occupational health end of December
She stated with the correct medical assistant my symptoms will improve however it might reacure an effect my future attendance, bare in mind this was report back from December
I got dismissed last week
In that time I went privately an got treatment
An now am doing really well
