Just a reminder to never auto renew your insurance

Got renewal in for my car this week, a few £ cheaper a month, that's odd I thought! Figured that some of DHs points must've expired.

Did my usual comparison on Go Compare, switched and will save £9 a month, about 1/3 off current price. And even the same provider was £5 cheaper a month than the renewal quote they gave us.

I've cancelled my autorenew on my car insurance after they claimed on a Direct Debit I'd forgotten I had (as it had only been set up to sort out a cock up they'd made the previous year.) I was overcharged and then told they could not refund me for 1 week and the best thing for me to do was get my bank to recall the Direct Debit and then for me to ring up and pay again once i'd got my money back. That was after they said they couldn't reduce my renewal quote until I pointed out that I had got an on line quote from them and it was in fact cheaper - suddenly they were able to match it! This was the company with the dog who says "oh yes"!

They have just sent me an auto renwal notice for my annual travel insurance. I won't even be entering into negotiation with them this time. The only way to stop this ridiculous practice is to walk away unless you get their best (competetive) price first time around.
