Writing a will for my family and encouraging my father to do the same

Where’s the best place to sort out a free will service for me and my family. (Married 4 children) so fairly simple.

Also my father lives alone, he owns a flat and is unmarried. He doesn’t have a will. How do I go about discussing this with him and talk about his wishes when he dies. His living relatives include myself and my sister and 2 brothers. Thank you

In Scotland it is simple to write your own will and have it witnessed, no need to pay fees to anyone but I have no idea if this applies where you are. Surely an online search would provide that information.
As to your father, why not ask him to help you with the wording of your will, discuss why it is import to you to have your's in place then offer to help him do the same.
I am currently visiting a neighbour in hospital whose will leaves everything to his (late) wife so no longer valid. His distant relatives will inherit but most of the savings he scrimped and saved to build up will go to lawyers.

Incidentally in your situation the norm would be for both you and your husband to have mirror wills leaving everything to each other but dividing the estate equally between your children should you both die with perhaps other bequeaths to friends, charities or more distant relatives.
