Dh's hours and tax credits

Dh started a new job at the beginning of April. He is contracted to work 28 hours a week, so far each week they have asked him to work an extra shift and he has quite happily done this.

This takes him up to 35 hours a week.

I'm in the process of informing the Tax credits about his change of job, had to wait for a paye ref number which we now have but when they ask how many hours he works should I say 28 which is what he's contracted for officially or should I say more than 30 hours since so far every week he has worked more than 30?

I don't want to inform them incorrectly and have it all come back and bite me in the bum.

I would say 30, as you get an extra element for working 30 + and he is, and if hes paid hourly and they know his hourly rate would it not become clear at the end of the year IYKWIM.

Best phone them to explain - they will advise you.
