Hi all, I apologise If this is the wrong section to post in, but I am hoping someone would give me some information on working tax credits, what they are and who is entitled to them?
I have looked on the government website but am still confused about what they are!
Thank you in advance

People who work but are on low incomes can claim them. There are different conditions depending on your situation. So for example a lone parent can claim them working just 16 hours, wheras a single person would need to work 30, a couple with kids need to work 24 between them ( although I've never understood the reasoning behind such a low number of hours ! ). It also goes on income - below 13k for a single person, and around 18k for a couple with kids.
Working tax credits can be claimed alongside child tax credits and the thresholds for those are higher and go up with each child.
Working tax credits were basically an incentive to get people working on low incomes rather than choosing to be on benefits alone.

Also people with disabilities on a disability benefit like PIP or DLA can work less hours ( 16) and get WTC and so can those over 60.
