Working & Child Tax credits claim help!

Hello 😊
I'm rather lost when it comes to the working & Child Tax credits claim.

My current situation:
Baby due in May, already have a 7 year old, myself and partner work full time and no longer receive tax credits as my child is no longer at after school.

My company provides S.M.P which will leave a rather large dent in the household income. When checking online at the tax credits it asks for the previous years income, which will be more than 2018-2019 as I will be on ML for a year.
When the baby has arrived and I've made my claim, am I able to give them an estimated annual income that will include my partners wage and my S.M.P?
Also does anyone know how to work this out on the tax credits calculator, so that I can get a rough guide as to what we will receive. I'm on panic mode already 😂

With great thanks 😊

You make a claim and then when they send you a nil award you can ring them with an estimated income for 2018-19 tax year. You can deduct £100 per week for every week you claim SMP ( so £3900 total if you take the full 39 weeks ).
For two children and no childcare costs then the threshold is around 32k, so if your joint income is over that you wont qualify.
You may need to check whether you are in a Universal credit area if it's a new claim.

Ah thank you so much, this clears all my worries 😂 xx

Universal Credits though, what are they? I live in Scotland near Glasgow.

Universal credit is replacing tax credits ( amongst other means tested benefits). Some areas have already switched over. It is probably best to check on one of the UC calculators whether your postcode is affected. Universal credit is replacing Housing benefit, child and working tax credits, income support , Income related ESA and job seekers allowance. It is like all the benefits rolled into one but if you are only eligible for the child element then you would just get that element.
