Idle Heifer would like to ask a question about tax credits, please?

There is a tax credit that applies to families where both parents are working, but they earn under a certain amount, I think.

Is that Working Families Tax Credits? or some such?

What is the limit?

Does it matter if 1 parent is working self employed but not actually full time (because, try as he might, he's not getting full time work)?

And the other is only working part time?

Between us my DH and I are earning about £50,000 a year. Me working 2 days a week (in PAYE employment). Him working about 2 or 3 days freelance.

It is impossible to project our income, we can only estimate. Mine is subject to commission (hugely variable) his is subject to how many days paid work he is able to attract.

Is it worth trying to claim?

Thanks anyone with experience of this.

Oh you will have to estimate and they will pay accordingly, but above about 25,000 it is a flat rate of about £545 a year, or round about that.
